Thu 8 September 2022, 6 – 9 p.m.

The Couples Club of Rossmoor is planning a “ROARING TWENTIES SPEAKEASY” party at the Event Center on Thursday, September 8, 2022, 102 years after the US went “dry” and nearly 90 years after prohibition was repealed. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature Champagne, Manhattans, and Bees Knees with gin, as well as soft drinks and sparkling water (If you want wine, please BYOB).

The menu will consist of “finger foods typical of food from the Speakeasy era” with such names as Prohibition Sliders; Great Gatsby Chicken Satay, Capone Bootleg Pizza, Zelda’s Deviled Eggs, Flapper Finger Tea Sandwiches, and Pinstripes Stuffed Potato which will be served at the table family style.

Following the entertainment, there will be a raffle of “SPEAKEASY BOOZE” and a trio of desserts brought to the table. For the dancers, there will be favorites from the ROARING TWENTIES.

The centerpiece of the evening is the Cabaret Style Show. Lauren Mayer, a 5-time recipient of the San Francisco Cabaret Gold Award, and her partner, crooner Scott Grinthal, will take you on a musical trip to the 1920s including vintage show tunes, novelty songs, and popular favorites that will have you tapping your toes and even singing along. This couple has previously performed at the 42nd St. Moon and Society Cabaret among many others – Sure to be a toe-tapping evening.

The evening will cost $45 per member person and $ 55 for each guest with priority given to members. Couples Club requires proof of vaccination unless it has already been provided, and we will abide by any other current COVID-19 recommendations. There will be Speakeasy décor cut-outs for you to take your own picture for memories of the evening.
